It was a crazy week around our house. Hence, the missing posts last week. Our new homeschooling routine, or lack of, still has me jumping. Homeschooling 2 and entertaining a 3rd, keeps me busy, but I wouldn't change it for anything.
I now have my hands on a temporary replacement camera. I spent yesterday afternoon prepping listings and worked on listing last night. Last week, sales were still rather slow and I only made about $70.00. I averaged about a sale a day, but most of them came all over a 2 day period. I did start the week (yesterday) off with a $45 sale, so that was nice.
The consignment sale that I did went very well. Considering I only had about 4-6 weeks to prep for it, I'm extremely pleased with my sales. I only brought home around 10 items, which I should be able to unload at another sale I'm doing in a few weeks. I've already started gathering items for the spring and hope to have 10x what I took this time.
I did alot of thrifting last week. I hit Goodwill up 5 times. My corners are busting at the seems, so I need to list and move it to the shed. I got HUGE lots of Polly Pocket, Littlest Pet Shop, and Fisher Price Loving Family. I also got winter items from places like Land's End snow boots, winter coats, and snow suits are all in a pile waiting to be listed. I was able to collect a few VHS movie lots and kid book lots. The last few weeks, kid books lots have been a decent seller for me.
How was your week?

About how many items did you take? I am doing my 1st cosignment in 3 weeks and I plan to take 300 items. Just wondering if you could give any pointers. Thanks
Wow, you have been busy! I sold some clothes on craigslist last week. I still have lots of stuff I need to list.
My hubby has been doing good flipping XBox 360 games.
So glad to here the consignment sale went well for you. Did you end up shopping early at the consignment sale? If so did you find much to resale? I saw a comment you left over at ebay underground and was wondering how you find out which little pet shop pets are worth more then others? Love hearing how things are going for you. Thanks
That certainly does sound like a busy week! I had a couple of questions...do you get your VHS and books at Goodwill? If so, what prices do you pay? My GW prices paperbacks at 99 cents and hardcovers at $1.99. Sometimes this is ok like when I spent $10 on a set of 5 Diary of a Wimpy Kid hardcover books and sold for $26, but other times I'm not sure if it's even worth it. Also, I wasn't sure if VHS lots are worth it - I think these sell for $1.99 at my GW. So wanted to see what your price point is for VHS and if you've had luck selling them in lots.
@ Annoy. I only took around 100 items. My biggest advice is to start pricing early. I did all mine the last night. It went okay because I had a small amount of items.
@ Sarah, I bought nothing. My sister and I left and went to Goodwill. I found a few potentials, but not worth the investment. To expensive for me, I like garage sale pricing. But, definitely will consign again.
@Angela, I usually only shop the GW outlet. Books and tapes are by the pound. I doubt I would pay those prices unless I knew it was something that resold very well. I'm only in the beginning stages of selling VHS tapes, but personally would only do lots. Garage sales are great places to get them. Most of the time they are between .25 & .50
Hope this helps everyone. Thanks for the comments :)
